Damn it's hot and i love it !

Hey Guys !

I'm feeling a bit bad about my less writing, but the reason i think is that things get normal and LDN is my everydays life now :)
uhhh...like to say that !

There were some culinaric highlights i'd like to mention ;)
On Sundays there is the Sunday up market near the Old Truman Brewery...where you can choose from italien, spanish, indian to chinese, japan and even venezuelan food.
After talking to the nice arepas&cachapas-maker, i decided to try some vegetarian ethiopian food :)
It's was soooo delicious !! And sooo spicy !
But in compare with the south african food i get every evening...this is spicy,spicy...spicy. Like really spicy!

Sometimes it's a bit hard for me to get something delicious to eat in Austria, because I'm a veggie and people there love to eat meat, eggs, meat, speck, fat meat, and meat...
But in some places they had already changed their minds, and try to serve organic and vegan things and make the world better. world peace :)

Anyway here in london I found some awesome restaurants and coffeeshops...i mean near bricklane everything is organic, vegan, and absolutly good ...and cooked by angels...Mhmm !
What i really can recommend to you is Root-Master, it looks like a old, red double decker bus :) A Bustaurant to be precise.

I'd like to say, that the things I write are just my thoughts, my opinions on things and my experiences...i don't want to hurt peoples feelings, but Austria is a funny choke if you're in London.

So this is all my subjective opinion...straight from the bottom of my dark, black, broken heart.

Mouth full of diamonds

Money isn't everything.
People may think this fashion-chicks must be fixed on money...and of course, it is important. It'll always be important and present...
But.
The last days I learned that cash isn't everything.
I feel good to go to work, to do something, even to learn something without earning a penny :) It just feels good...it feels good to sell a dress, even if thoose 300 Pounds aren't mine now :)

...when there's nothing left to wear you start wearing your clothes backwards

Go east for a real taste of London town, with chic shops, fabulous food and magnificent markets!

So here's my experience with all the Vintage stores in London.
I do like them, you really can find awesome things, extraordinary fashion and some bargains...BUT honestly who can stand that frowsty, fusty smell???

However...here are some of my favourite's : Beyond Retro, Blondie, Vintage Store, Rokit.

Not a Vintage store but amazing is The Laden Showroom in Bricklane, I can just recommend it to every shopaholic...you definetly find something in there ! They have beautiful dresses and fancy stuff :)

A ordinary lie

Of course it's not that glamorous all the time, as a fashion intern you also have to tidyup, sort things and go to buy coffee...but just soja-cappuchino's without sugar, without chocolate and without any fat ;D

Work Horses and Show Ponies

The third week is almost over (I have to work on sunday) and I didn't mentioned that there is a new face in our team :)
She is from southafrica too, and attends fashion college for two years. Unfortunatelly she only works at the atelier three days a week, but we have a lot of fun with her when she's around.

The last days I was working on some Chiffon-Shirts (!) which cost's us all a lot of nerves, but I find it challenging. I'm pretty good now with extraordinary expensive fabrics :)
And my skills are growing.

Today was quite successful because we sold a dress and some boots, it sounds little but it is a lot, when you know the prices ;)
And I really enjoy working because this awkward distance between oneself and your boss is gone, which is quite normal at the beginning I think.
I love to speak with the designer and listen to her advices...sometimes she also wants to hear my opinion on things :)
And sometimes I just tell her my ideas and my thoughts, for example to exhibit at the Vienna Fashion Week and the Modepalast.

I must say, I'm really happy that I already have experience with fashion-internships. I made one in Vienna last summer at the label km/a, and I really learned a lot there !!
It was great, and now I regred that I only stay for one month there...

I'm really embarrassed about my writing mistakes ^^

Good Night.Sleep tight.Don't let the bedbugs bite!

Last Night I had a strange dream, I was so surprised that I already told everybody about it...

I was dreaming that I'm making an Internship at Santa Claus...it was really wired.
Everybody looked like little Umpalumpas and we all were in a big hurry because christmas was coming.
And I was really stressed because I coulnd't find the right shoes for christmas...and there was snow everywhere..but it wasn't cold..like in Austria.

We laught sooo much when I told my dream to the designer :)

Prepare to be blown away !!

Oh...what a wonderful day :)
After this day I'm full of new Ideas, because we made the most of our free day.

In the morning we met our french friend for a last time at National Gallery, and I think we spend the half day in it.
It' amazing !! But I felt another kind of impression, not the one when you see something great and turn to your friend saying "Look at this, and this, and this.." all the time.
It was more like enjoying the moment and the joy you feel, when you see a masterpiece of art, just for yourself and quiet. It was great! And I was really happy :)

So there where three girls just enjoying silence and art, and just get inspired.
I was so impressed...I just thought, one day I'm going to buy all of this great paintings.

There are paintings and portraits from Rembrandt,Rubens,William Turner,Gainsborough,Delacroix,Monet,Van Gogh and Klimt.

I like to mension some paintings who really inspired me...
I really like the strong expressions in the faces from the 16th century, and I find it pretty interesting when people who are portrait wear completely black clothes.

For me as a fashion student was " Madame de Pompadou at her Tambour Frame" from Drovais amazing, because the garments and the fabrics are painted so incredibly accurate, you could see every detail of the lace.

And of course I loved Turner's painting from the sea and Monet's "The Water-Lily Pont", which is amazing to see it in real life.

After this very, very, very inspiring experience we went to Goldhawk Road, to buy fabrics for our prom dresses.
It's like paradise because there is one fabric store after another.
And the silk isn't that expensive like in Berwick Street...

Finally we eat something from Baker Street in Regents Park and enjoy the sun and the unbelievable weather :)

Networking

Nowadays networking is one of the most important things, especially in the fashion business.
To know someone, who knows someone, who worked with...is a decisive factor for your career.

So on sunday, I met a friend of mine who also works in London at Bricklane Market.
Because on sundays it is the place to be :)
(There was a interesting market from art college called Art Quest)
She brought two friends along, one girl from new zealand and another girl with graduated our college this year.
Both are really nice, and we enjoyed the sunday walking around and talking about our jobs and what we're going to do next...

Speaking of networking...there is a fabulous webside called nineteen 74, where you can find people,projects,companys...from all parts of the fashion industry :)

A Shoreditch Weekend

I can't imagine that I'm already two weeks in London.
The designer trusts us a lot and gives us also responsibility, which is a great learning experience.
I'm feeling like I'm getting better and better and my "knowhow" get's bigger and bigger !

So Friday we decided to go to a real Old English Pub, and there are so many Pub's in Shoreditch and Kingsland Road...it was really hard to decide in which on to go..

But finally we found a really nice one, where we drank a typical Pale Ale.
People her are so nice and interesting, and especially in Shoreditch really, really...really inspirating.

Then we found a great brazilian Club in Great Eastern Street called Favela Chic.
I think this Pub is our new favourite, because they have great food and drinks :)
...and it's not far from work.

Anywhere in this whole area, you would meet a lot of amazing people, because it's kind of the centre of the creative scenen <3

Yesterday after work, the designer invited us to go to a vietnamese restaurant for dinner.
Oh God...the food was soooo delicious !!! Especially the coconut-rise and the fried banana :)
It was a nice evening, we were talking a lot and I think everybody enjoyed it !

It's raining rainbows !

Trés chic

The party yesterday was great. There where so many interesting people, I even met an amazing artist who exposed her paintings in the studio. Some of her costumers are Gwyneth Paltrow and Gwen Stefani !!!
(you can find a link to her webside under this post)

And I can imagine that it also was a success for the designer, because there where a lot of people.
We made Pimm's which is like a Bowle with a lot of fruits, cucumber and mint in it, and it tastes fantastic! I would love to bring one bottle to Austia :)

It was kind of funny because the people thought that I'm the french girl because I look like a french ??!! Really funny... And it was also really amusing, when one woman thought that I'm the designer. She asked me strange things and suddenly I realised that she was thinking that I am the designer, so I explained her that I'm just a Intern.

oh...I have to go to work!
Bye Bye !

Why do I spend so much of my time staring at my feet? I should be dancing, dancing, dancing...

OMG !
It was raining this morning ! ;D
Today was a quite normal day at the show room. We were alone because the designer has got some photoshoot's.
And Thursday evening we're going to have a big party at the atelier, a lot of buyers an customers will come. And there will be also Pimm's :)

So everything is fine in the UK, maybe I stay here in London. BUT before I make that decision I want to see the world!!!

Wagamama's Tofu-Soup

Tomorrow begins the second working-week, and I just remember me of a funny situation from the first day at the atelier. The designer asked me to try on one of the new 500-Pound-Dresses, but as I was getting on the dress she said something like, "by the way PLEASE don't sweat, because it's pure silk" ! So I just stood there and thought, Are you kidding me??? I never had such a expensive dress on !! And you want me not to sweat ?!

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow because we are allowed to open the show room and I'm going to be a sales assistant :)

Unfortunetly we only had free today, but it doesn't matter because we saw a lot.
I met Julia at the Tower Bridge, which is fascinating, and then we went to a Restaurant called Wagamama for lunch.
I think they are specialized on Thai-Food and they sell delicious noodle-soups (another secret tip from julia).
I really enjoyed the food and also the dessert(Mango/Lychee Sorbet)!

Then we went to Marble Arch by bus, because we wanted to see more from the city. When you go by tube you don't see anything.
And we saw a lot : St.Paul's,Fleet Street, Monument, Charing Cross Staton, Royal Court Theatre, Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus ..and so on.
Really interesting, really tourist-like. ;)

The weather is amazing, just some clouds...

Love.

Sunday's sunny side up

Hey there.

I usually don't like Sunday's because in Austria you can't do anything on Sunday, but the city never sleeps ;)
So yesterday we had to work from 11am till 6pm, but in our lunch-break we went down all the market which is every sunday at Bricklane and in the banch roads.

You can buy nearly everything there from fresh vegetables and fruits to old polaroid-camera's. They even sell fresh coconut's and you can drink from them! Yummy :)
On Sunday's there are a lot of those markets, you can find one in every part of the city.
You also can find gorgeous vintage clothes and some true treasures, and anyway most of the shop's in London are open on Sunday's :)))) So you can go shopping EVERY day !

In the evening I went with the girls to Sheperds bush to a Bar/Pub/Club where we watch the final football match. It was great fun, I met a lot of people, which was really good. I even met some guys from Australia !
You can't imagine how big the Pub's and the club's are and there was a huge flatscreen on every wall.
What I also like is that nearly every Club has a Dresscode.
"Smart&Sexy, NO Sportswear, Trainers are allowed but only if they're brandnew."
I love it!

Florence + The Machine - Dog Days Are Over (2010 Version)

Candy is Dandy...but Liquor is Quicker

Cutting Chiffon with Tears in the Eyes

The first week is allready over...Time goes by so fast.
The designer found out that I'm really good at cutting, so I had to cut chiffon all day long!
I swear cutting chiffon is like hell !!

Oh and since I'm in Great Britain there's only beautiful wetter!! :)
This evening, after work we will go to an Old English Pub to see the soccer-game.
But I think what Julia really interests are the spanish soccer players ;)

I miss my sister.

Stunning Hype

Yesterday I came home late because after work the designer took us to an exhibition of young designers, which was really interesting because they also designed, dyed and even made the fabrics of their degree collection.
The fabrics were amazing but the design's were a little bit boring.

After that little Vernissage near Bricklane,Julia and I decided to go for a coffee. So we just walked to the next tube station which is Moorgate, and on the way we found a Starbucks at the finsbury square. It was funny because near Bricklane nearly all Guys wear plimsolls and a handbag, and in this area everybody was wearing a suit and a biefcase.
We just walked like 10 min, and saw a complete different part of London. I love thoose places who are so eclectic.

The work is a great experience because on the one hand we can work really independent but on the other hand the designer is so exact that we need 3 days for a T-shirt. Everything has to be done really carefully and tidily.
No pins on the floor, No dust, No rubbish, No idiots....;D
But it's great fun, we really learn a lot and the designer is strict but nice.

All the people I met since I'm in London are so kind. It was so unbelievable for me that onthe first days here I was really skeptic about that gentleness, but now I find myself saying "Sorry", "Excuse me", "Pardon", "you're welcome"...all the time :)

I'm so lucky with my host-family, it's a pleasure to live with them.
It's a pity that I'm only there at the evening, because I'm in the city all day.

Today I finally finished the T-Shirt (started working on it at Wednesday!!) with thousands of flowers on it...now you know why cutting edge garmets are soooo expensive.

Unfortunately we have to work on weekends too, but we have free on Mondays and Tuesdays.

I <3 Bricklane

Robot-Love is forever

This morning I met with Julia at the Undergroundstation "Old Street" to go together to work. As we arrived at the Atelier another Intern from Paris was still there.
She is already working there for two weeks or something.

At the Studio we were six persons, the Designer, her Assistent, a Seamstress and we three, the Interns.
Today it was really interesting to see how everybody works there. I had to sew some little Fabric-Flowers for a Dress and for a T-Shirt. And I never do that before, so it was something really new for me to sew with Hand.

Oh... I'm so tred today, so please don't be mad at me if I don't write that much today...

Anyway Bricklane and the hole area where we work is awesome !!! There are so many Designers and creative people :)
And also by the way, I didn't mentioned that all the people I met since I'm in London are sooooo nice to me. I love this City, even if there is no sea.

Good Night :)

Nottinghill

Hyde Park

Vintage Chanel shoes

Sightseeing

I started my day pretty relaxed in Nottinghill, where I wanted to see the Portobello Road an it's beautiful little vintage stores. You can find nearly everything there, from antique furniture to rare records and of course vintage fashion :)
I just entered into a store which had a lot of Haute Couture. There where Shoes from Salvatore Ferragamo, Chanel, Miu Miu... and Clothes from Valentino to Burberry. Stunning!!!
BUT even if this Things are old and used the cost between 200,- and 500,- Pounds !!!

At 12:00am I arrived at the British Museum. But unfortunately at this time there where so many school classes and tourists, so decided only to see the egypt part with the mummies.
This Museum is huge and so interesting, I definetly will come again to see the other parts too !

Then I went to Hyde Park with Julia ( my Co-Worker ) to drink a coffe at serpentine's, which is a wicked place in the middle of Hyde Park.
On our way we past by Buckingham Palace and Marble Arch.

After tea-time in Hyde Park we cross the hole Park and ate a pizza at Queensway.
It was a great fun to spend the day with Julia, I think we both enjoyed our last free day, because tomorrow at 10am we start to work :)

From the long walking today I've got two big blisters on my heels...but that doesn't matter because I'm in LONDON!!!

"Müde bin ich, geh zur Ruh, mache meine Äuglein zu"

Hello..How are you..Alright

Today I explored Oxford Street, Regent Sreet and the Underground (Mind the Gap !).
First I went to the Atelier which is in a unbeliveable creative area of London. You people in Austria can't imagine the amazing fashion-style of the people here. I JUST LOVE IT !
On my way to the Atelier I came by the Shop "Child of the Jago", I never thought I would see it in real life :)

As I arrived at Oxford Street the first I saw was TOP SHOP ! I just run into it and spend more than one hour to see all the beautiful clothes and the shoes (!!!).

Then I decided to go down Regent Street where I saw the department store "Liberty" which is build of the wood of old chips, as I know.
By the way I also went into "Selfridges" which is compereable to the "Galeries Lafayette" in Paris. Amazing!

And finally I went to the London College of Fashion which is also near Oxford Street.
I've got a lot of interesting informations about the studies and the short courses.
And they also have courses of fashion management and marketing, where I'm really interested to.

On my way home I stopped at Camden Town, OMG ! this is a paradies for Punk's, Emo's and so on ! But kind of intereting too. I was feeling safe because of my tattoos, but I think the next time I won't come alone. I just bought some funny postcards and went straight at home.

The birthday party yesterday was an amazing experience. Suddenly I found myself in the middle of more than 30 people from all over the world. There was delicious food and really beautiful cakes :)
It was funny to eat things you never seen or eaten before. I discovered a lot of new tastes. People who know me, know what I mean with “Wos da Bauer net kennt isst a net“ :) ha ha ha....
But I think the reason why I was not scared of putting something in my mouth I've never seen before is that I knew that the whole family is vegetarian, so there was no meat to be scared of.

I think I don't mentioned before that the Family is very educated and polite. So at the party were a lot of interesting people, I even met the Buyer of Harrods !!!! He was really friendly and we talked a lot about the fashion industry and his job as a Buyer. He also offered me a work-placement at Harrods :) So maybe I take this chance after school.

Bye Bye Baby

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I finally arrived in London :)
My journey began yesterday, I flew from Klagenfurt to London Stansted at the early evening. I love to fly and so I enjoyed the flight. I even saw some big transport ships at the "Ärmelkanal"!
At the airport my guest-father was already waiting to pick me up. He introduced me to his wife and his daughter, who has birthday on monday.
So today we are celebrating her birthday, the whole family from south-afrika is here and there is a lot of spicy food :) yummmiii!

I haven't decided if I write in English or German, but I think English would be a better choice because everybody understands it and it's a good practice for me too.
And Please, do not hesitate to correct me !
