...That Bar in Tokio...

Bricklane Sweet Bricklane <3
The area was a playground to tortured souls, visionaries in the making, waifs and strays, gays and straights, bohemians and regular street kids.
The area was a collision of fashion, art and music minds.
Bye bye LDN, with it's grey skies and lack of defined seasons. I love you.
But finally I was oh-so far away from home, but so close to myself :)

Kiss Kiss Good-Bye to this
Hey Lovies !
I'm looking forward to my last weekend in London, maybe it sounds funny to you because it's already Saturday, but my "weekend" is from Saturday to Monday.
Tomorrow is the Notting Hill Carnival and I have a few other things on my list that I want to see before I have to leave on the 4th September...
Oh, and by the way, did I mentioned that the designer named the Chiffon Blouse after me ?!
Now I'm the only Intern at the studio, Julia left on Thursday, but I had a great last evening with her.
First we went to French Connection ( better known as FCUK ) to buy some dresses. Every woman should have a French Connection dress in her wardrobe !
I found a beautiful LBD* with “future-Vogue-Editor” written all over it ! It perfectly fits to my Olivia-Palermo Pumps, I bought the other day...for my prom ;)
After that we went to a nearby Bar in Mayfair called Pitcher & Piano, which I can just recommend to young women who want to meet a young, good-looking and rich Wall-Street-Banker, who will might take you to DeBeers (!!!)
All in all it was a great evening, we went down Regent Street towards Piccadilly Circus and further to Trafalgar Square , where we finally said Good-Bye to each other.
Since two days now I'm working alone in the shop … It is really quite and I don't know if I could work alone all the time.
Well, I'm not sure about my future.. on the one hand I'm really interested in Fashion Merchandise & Marketing because I love Communication and being surrounded by creative people. On the other hand I'm fascinated from the printed word and of course I would love to work with People who are the best at their field.

Successful women can still have their feet on the ground..They just wear better shoes

Hello Friends and Friends not yet made !
The last weekend I found out why they say it's always raining in the UK...It was raining the whole weekend -.-
I really love London. I really do. BUT this f****** rainy weather is getting on my nerves!!
So I went to the oh-so-glamorous Harrods :) So far so good, but I still didn't found the perfect shoes for my Prom... So I went to Selfridges ( which I prefer ) ...but even there I couldn't decide which shoes I'm exactly looking for... Last Station for that day was Top Shop, and I must say I really love some Kurt Geiger Shoes there, but something was missing...So finally my “Shoe-Story” hasn't ended yet... ;)
...to be continued...

...mit ganz viel pimpirimpim!

Wake up !
...it's a beautiful morning :)
In case you didn't get the message, vintage clothing is having a moment. It's even got its own festival called Vintage at Goodwood this weekend !!
Work is pretty funny at the time, because everybody is working on the new collection, and somehow I'm always allowed to try the new things on :)
Today I was asked to try the new shoes for S/S 11 on, so the designer can make a better decision...Awesome !!!
And I can imagine people think we're incredible happy with what we are doing, because where singing all the time at the Atelier ;)
Thanks to Xfm London 104.9 !

Blogosphere

Hi friends!
I'm already 35 Days in LDN and I can't believe that I have to leave in 4 weeks.
Everything's really familiar now and after some time you start taking care about the shop, the atelier, the whole brand...even if it isn't yours.
I already feel as a part of it, I think because we get pretty much involved in everything.
For example, these days the new shoes (!) arrived, and I was asked to sort them and to see if “we like them” ...or another really exiting thing was when the designer searched for models for the fotoshoot, and we also choose them and decided which photographs to take for the business card and the website and everything :)
Yeah, it's just a great work experience !
...And in our lunch-breaks we always discover something new. These days we went to a American Dinner where you can bowl, eat and drink :) And they have some mouth-watering Milkshakes!!!
As we all know music is one of the most important things in the creative scene...there are two shops which pretty impressed me, one is called Duke of Uke and it's full of ukes and the other one is Rough Trade, which is just off bricklane, there you can find any kind of music on records, cd's, cassetes...everything you want :)
So enjoy yourself !

North South East West

I'm so excited !
Today the Designer asked me to draw the new designs for Autumn/Winter 10 !!!
It was great, I never drawed down someone else's ideas :)
And on monday we spend our day at Greenwich Park near the Docklands....uhhh I really love the Docks !!
So we had a little picnic, and we also went to 0°0'0'' Meridian :)
All together a great start of the week :)
PS: I hope nobody recognized that I'm a bit lazy today ;)

Schönes schläft im Schatten

Hi yah !
I'll give you a quick résumé of my weekend..
Thank God it was Friday !
So Julia and I deciced to go out, and a bottle of champagne at Julia's flat and a walk through Liverpool Street later, we finally entered to the most famous Nightclub of London, The Fabric.
It was...I can't describe it ! It was just incredible and amazing and exactly what I was dreaming of :)
Of course you have to pay like 15 Pounds to get in, provided that you look good enough to get in. It's absolutely worth it's price ;)
There just beautiful people and of course very stylish too.
Dresscode: sexy&smart.
And after a gorgeous night I enjoyed my journey home via red double decker bus.
It was amazing to see the city by night with all it's lights, fortunately I got a seat upstairs in the early morning ( to be honest at 4 a.m. ) :)
On Saturday I met the girls at Tate Modern. Oh god.. I could live in a Gallery/Museum, I just love being surrounded by great art. Francis Bacon, Juliao Sarmento, Marcel Dzama, David Shrigley, Christian Schad, Bruce Davidson, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Dali, Picasso and finally Miró....
Really great experience to visit a exhibition called "Poetry and Dream-Surrealism and Beyond" after a night in THE Fabric. hahaha...
Some unnecessary informations:
have got a sore throat, again...I have it very, very often -.-
...but there's enough tea here in the UK ;)

Damn it's hot and i love it !
Hey Guys !
I'm feeling a bit bad about my less writing, but the reason i think is that things get normal and LDN is my everydays life now :)
uhhh...like to say that !
There were some culinaric highlights i'd like to mention ;)
On Sundays there is the Sunday up market near the Old Truman Brewery...where you can choose from italien, spanish, indian to chinese, japan and even venezuelan food.
After talking to the nice arepas&cachapas-maker, i decided to try some vegetarian ethiopian food :)
It's was soooo delicious !! And sooo spicy !
But in compare with the south african food i get every evening...this is spicy,spicy...spicy. Like really spicy!
Sometimes it's a bit hard for me to get something delicious to eat in Austria, because I'm a veggie and people there love to eat meat, eggs, meat, speck, fat meat, and meat...
But in some places they had already changed their minds, and try to serve organic and vegan things and make the world better. world peace :)
Anyway here in london I found some awesome restaurants and coffeeshops...i mean near bricklane everything is organic, vegan, and absolutly good ...and cooked by angels...Mhmm !
What i really can recommend to you is Root-Master, it looks like a old, red double decker bus :) A Bustaurant to be precise.
I'd like to say, that the things I write are just my thoughts, my opinions on things and my experiences...i don't want to hurt peoples feelings, but Austria is a funny choke if you're in London.
So this is all my subjective opinion...straight from the bottom of my dark, black, broken heart.

Mouth full of diamonds

Money isn't everything.
People may think this fashion-chicks must be fixed on money...and of course, it is important. It'll always be important and present...
But.
The last days I learned that cash isn't everything.
I feel good to go to work, to do something, even to learn something without earning a penny :) It just feels good...it feels good to sell a dress, even if thoose 300 Pounds aren't mine now :)

...when there's nothing left to wear you start wearing your clothes backwards

Go east for a real taste of London town, with chic shops, fabulous food and magnificent markets!
So here's my experience with all the Vintage stores in London.
I do like them, you really can find awesome things, extraordinary fashion and some bargains...BUT honestly who can stand that frowsty, fusty smell???
However...here are some of my favourite's : Beyond Retro, Blondie, Vintage Store, Rokit.
Not a Vintage store but amazing is The Laden Showroom in Bricklane, I can just recommend it to every shopaholic...you definetly find something in there ! They have beautiful dresses and fancy stuff :)
A ordinary lie

Work Horses and Show Ponies

The third week is almost over (I have to work on sunday) and I didn't mentioned that there is a new face in our team :)
She is from southafrica too, and attends fashion college for two years. Unfortunatelly she only works at the atelier three days a week, but we have a lot of fun with her when she's around.
The last days I was working on some Chiffon-Shirts (!) which cost's us all a lot of nerves, but I find it challenging. I'm pretty good now with extraordinary expensive fabrics :)
And my skills are growing.
Today was quite successful because we sold a dress and some boots, it sounds little but it is a lot, when you know the prices ;)
And I really enjoy working because this awkward distance between oneself and your boss is gone, which is quite normal at the beginning I think.
I love to speak with the designer and listen to her advices...sometimes she also wants to hear my opinion on things :)
And sometimes I just tell her my ideas and my thoughts, for example to exhibit at the Vienna Fashion Week and the Modepalast.
I must say, I'm really happy that I already have experience with fashion-internships. I made one in Vienna last summer at the label km/a, and I really learned a lot there !!
It was great, and now I regred that I only stay for one month there...
I'm really embarrassed about my writing mistakes ^^

Good Night.Sleep tight.Don't let the bedbugs bite!
Last Night I had a strange dream, I was so surprised that I already told everybody about it...
I was dreaming that I'm making an Internship at Santa Claus...it was really wired.
Everybody looked like little Umpalumpas and we all were in a big hurry because christmas was coming.
And I was really stressed because I coulnd't find the right shoes for christmas...and there was snow everywhere..but it wasn't cold..like in Austria.
We laught sooo much when I told my dream to the designer :)

Prepare to be blown away !!

Oh...what a wonderful day :)
After this day I'm full of new Ideas, because we made the most of our free day.
In the morning we met our french friend for a last time at National Gallery, and I think we spend the half day in it.
It' amazing !! But I felt another kind of impression, not the one when you see something great and turn to your friend saying "Look at this, and this, and this.." all the time.
It was more like enjoying the moment and the joy you feel, when you see a masterpiece of art, just for yourself and quiet. It was great! And I was really happy :)
So there where three girls just enjoying silence and art, and just get inspired.
I was so impressed...I just thought, one day I'm going to buy all of this great paintings.
There are paintings and portraits from Rembrandt,Rubens,William Turner,Gainsborough,Delacroix,Monet,Van Gogh and Klimt.
I like to mension some paintings who really inspired me...
I really like the strong expressions in the faces from the 16th century, and I find it pretty interesting when people who are portrait wear completely black clothes.
For me as a fashion student was " Madame de Pompadou at her Tambour Frame" from Drovais amazing, because the garments and the fabrics are painted so incredibly accurate, you could see every detail of the lace.
And of course I loved Turner's painting from the sea and Monet's "The Water-Lily Pont", which is amazing to see it in real life.
After this very, very, very inspiring experience we went to Goldhawk Road, to buy fabrics for our prom dresses.
It's like paradise because there is one fabric store after another.
And the silk isn't that expensive like in Berwick Street...
Finally we eat something from Baker Street in Regents Park and enjoy the sun and the unbelievable weather :)

Networking

Nowadays networking is one of the most important things, especially in the fashion business.
To know someone, who knows someone, who worked with...is a decisive factor for your career.
So on sunday, I met a friend of mine who also works in London at Bricklane Market.
Because on sundays it is the place to be :)
(There was a interesting market from art college called Art Quest)
She brought two friends along, one girl from new zealand and another girl with graduated our college this year.
Both are really nice, and we enjoyed the sunday walking around and talking about our jobs and what we're going to do next...
Speaking of networking...there is a fabulous webside called nineteen 74, where you can find people,projects,companys...from all parts of the fashion industry :)
A Shoreditch Weekend

I can't imagine that I'm already two weeks in London.
The designer trusts us a lot and gives us also responsibility, which is a great learning experience.
I'm feeling like I'm getting better and better and my "knowhow" get's bigger and bigger !
So Friday we decided to go to a real Old English Pub, and there are so many Pub's in Shoreditch and Kingsland Road...it was really hard to decide in which on to go..
But finally we found a really nice one, where we drank a typical Pale Ale.
People her are so nice and interesting, and especially in Shoreditch really, really...really inspirating.
Then we found a great brazilian Club in Great Eastern Street called Favela Chic.
I think this Pub is our new favourite, because they have great food and drinks :)
...and it's not far from work.
Anywhere in this whole area, you would meet a lot of amazing people, because it's kind of the centre of the creative scenen <3
Yesterday after work, the designer invited us to go to a vietnamese restaurant for dinner.
Oh God...the food was soooo delicious !!! Especially the coconut-rise and the fried banana :)
It was a nice evening, we were talking a lot and I think everybody enjoyed it !

Trés chic

The party yesterday was great. There where so many interesting people, I even met an amazing artist who exposed her paintings in the studio. Some of her costumers are Gwyneth Paltrow and Gwen Stefani !!!
(you can find a link to her webside under this post)
And I can imagine that it also was a success for the designer, because there where a lot of people.
We made Pimm's which is like a Bowle with a lot of fruits, cucumber and mint in it, and it tastes fantastic! I would love to bring one bottle to Austia :)
It was kind of funny because the people thought that I'm the french girl because I look like a french ??!! Really funny... And it was also really amusing, when one woman thought that I'm the designer. She asked me strange things and suddenly I realised that she was thinking that I am the designer, so I explained her that I'm just a Intern.
oh...I have to go to work!
Bye Bye !

Fashion Hotspots
Dienstag, 13. Juli 2010
Why do I spend so much of my time staring at my feet? I should be dancing, dancing, dancing...

OMG !
It was raining this morning ! ;D
Today was a quite normal day at the show room. We were alone because the designer has got some photoshoot's.
And Thursday evening we're going to have a big party at the atelier, a lot of buyers an customers will come. And there will be also Pimm's :)
So everything is fine in the UK, maybe I stay here in London. BUT before I make that decision I want to see the world!!!

Wagamama's Tofu-Soup

Tomorrow begins the second working-week, and I just remember me of a funny situation from the first day at the atelier. The designer asked me to try on one of the new 500-Pound-Dresses, but as I was getting on the dress she said something like, "by the way PLEASE don't sweat, because it's pure silk" ! So I just stood there and thought, Are you kidding me??? I never had such a expensive dress on !! And you want me not to sweat ?!
I'm really looking forward to tomorrow because we are allowed to open the show room and I'm going to be a sales assistant :)
Unfortunetly we only had free today, but it doesn't matter because we saw a lot.
I met Julia at the Tower Bridge, which is fascinating, and then we went to a Restaurant called Wagamama for lunch.
I think they are specialized on Thai-Food and they sell delicious noodle-soups (another secret tip from julia).
I really enjoyed the food and also the dessert(Mango/Lychee Sorbet)!
Then we went to Marble Arch by bus, because we wanted to see more from the city. When you go by tube you don't see anything.
And we saw a lot : St.Paul's,Fleet Street, Monument, Charing Cross Staton, Royal Court Theatre, Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus ..and so on.
Really interesting, really tourist-like. ;)
The weather is amazing, just some clouds...
Love.
